Elio Ticca is an artist based in Brussels, Belgium and Nuoro, Italy (BA IUAV University of Venice, Italy, Visual and Performing Arts; MA University of Leeds, History of Art). His work explores the relationship between art histories, cultural history, and tangible and intangible heritage. Using primarily painting and sculpture, Ticca gives form to ironical and unpredictable visual dialogues through the play of appropriation. The outcomes seem to alter the matrix, in order to raise questions of authenticity and fictionality. His work also reinterprets conceptual milestones such as autography and originality, through a sophisticated process of camouflage and creation. By doing so, the artist aims to inquire how affect is transmitted through image-making and cultural memory.
